CATECHISM DAY CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL

Mount Carmel Primary School organized The Catechism Day on 16 th March 2024. All the catholic students and teachers were very excited.
The programme started sharp at 8:30 a.m. at Mount Carmel Primary School hall, with a welcome speech by Ms. Seema Pareira.
Reverend Father Edwin Anand was the guest of honour for the day.
Father was welcomed with a sapling presented by Rozene Dabhi of Std IV.
 Ms. Lendrina Siddia delivered an introduction speech about Father.
The programme commenced as follows:-
•The students of Std 1 and 2 performed prayer dance, prayer service and thought for the day.
•We remembered the foundress of the school Mother Veronica on this occasion and a song was performed by the students of std 1 to 4
•Std 4 students performed a Skit on The Parable of The Good Samaritan.
•Std 3 students performed an energetic action song
Rev. Fr. Edwin Anand also interacted with all the students and taught them an action song.
Father gave an inspirational talk on “Grow your children in faith and holiness “ to all the parents and the staff in the assembly hall. There was full participation from parents as an activity was performed by Father. Father motivated the students and appreciated the hard work put in by students and teachers.
Meanwhile the students had an entertaining interaction with members of Jesus Youth who taught them few games and action songs.
 In the end Ms. Sylvia Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks and Father was honoured with a token of love presented by Ms. Sonica Dabhi.
Refreshments were served at the end of the programme to all present.
Everyone looked very happy with the catechism day celebration.

JOYFUL LIVING DAY CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL

“Good moral values are mostly molded from a place where love, faith and hope exist.”
Mount Carmel Primary School plays an important role in imparting moral values through Joyful Living Classes. We at Mount Carmel celebrated Joyful Living Day on 12th March 2023 which started with a regular morning assembly by class 3rd C. Each standard had the celebration in their own classes which included thanksgiving prayers, songs, activities and skit. The celebration brought out the values learnt throughout the year 2023-24.
“Love only grows by sharing, you can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others. The more we share, the more we get.”
The children happily shared their healthy snacks brought from home with each other. The celebration came to an end by inculcating the habit of cleanliness as school is our second home.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS 1 – B

Theme: BLESSINGS
Date: 24.02.2024
The program was dated on 24th February,2024. The theme of the program was “BLESSINGS”. It focused on God’s blessings for us.
It began with anchoring by Laaibah Saiyed and Aaisha Lahori. Then a prayer dance was followed by the prayer service.
The prayer dance “Hey maa, Mariyam, hamarisahayini” was well performed by the students.
The intentions included prayers for own life blessings, family, friends, nature and all that make our lives complete and beautiful.
The thought for the day “Count your blessings, not your problems”, was noted and well explained bringing out the need for positivity in one’s own life.
The song “Showers of blessings” was sung by the children to mark the importance of blessings, we all are blessed with in our lives.
The song was followed by the skit on the theme “Blessings within us”. It brought out the values of being grateful and having gratitude for being able to see, hear, taste, touch, smell, laugh and love.
Last but not the least, the program was winded up by an entertainment dance including a medley of 3languages (Tamil, Iranian and Pahadi). There was a loud cheer among the audience and the multitude sang joyfully whilst the children performed on the stage with high energy and enthusiasm.
The backdrop of the stage added more value to the program. It was appreciated by all.
The vote of thanks was presented by Ms.Sapna to appreciate and applaud the children performing their best on the stage and bringing out the theme well.
Lastly, before taking the class photo, the whole school sang the school song “A happy band” with much pride and attention.
The program was conducted and the results were satisfactory. A big Thank You to the headmistress of the school, Sr. Shanthi for giving me an opportunity to bring out the talents of my class students on the stage so well.

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL

“Empowered women, empower the world.”
8th March, is celebrated as International Women’s Day. This day brings many things for women – a cause for celebration, a reason to pause and re-evaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and a time to honour, loved and admired.
To honour womanhood, Mount Carmel Primary School has celebrated the International Women’s Day on Saturday, 9th March, 2024 in the school hall.
The programme commenced with a brief Introduction on women’s day followed by prayer dance by class 3 and prayer service by class 1. Students of class 4 paid a tribute to some of the inspiring women like Sania Mirza, Mother Teresa, Sudha Murthy, Rani LaxmiBai, SavitriBai Phule, Kalpana Chawla, MalalaYousafzai and Nayaka Devi after which talent show was organized. The medallistwere called on the stage for recognition of their talent in various sports field like Sea swimming, Karate and Taekwondo. The Gold medallists Manyaa Bhavsar and Azra Master showcased their talent in Taekwondo on the stage followed by classical Bharatnatyam dances which were performed by Shraavya Bhatt, Manasvi Mundra, Tavishi Joshi and Prisha Chavda and instrumental musical performances by Natania Mary Linson and Reana Macwan. The students of std 2 performed an soulful dance on the song Shabhashiyan to show gratitude towards the women achievers of our country. The headmistress Sr.Shanthi proposed a speech and the programme concluded with thevote of thanks by the In-charge teacher Ms. Tina Ajit. Lastly, the school anthem was played by Reana Macwan on Piano.
Later a seminar was conducted for the teachers’ of Carmel Cote in the school hall at 10:30am after the women’s day celebration. The seminar started with a short introduction on women’s day followed by a short prayer. The chief guests Dr.Ankita Sirohiya (Obstetrician and Gynecologist) and Mr.Michael Paul Christian (Quality Head, Lifecare Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research) were introduced and welcomed with a bouquet. Dr.Ankita raised awareness about cervical cancer and its prevention through vaccination. Michael Sir addressed that there should be a balance between career and family and without a family support a woman can’t achieve success. The seminar concluded with an interactive session where the teachers interacted with the speakers clarifying their doubts and asking questions regarding their health issues.The program ended by presenting a token of appreciation to the guest speakers followed by a vote of thanks.The event was successfully coordinated by the In-charge teacher Ms.Tina.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS I C

Theme: NEVER GIVE UP
Date: 01/03/2024
According to the list of events for the year 2023-24, my class General Assembly was on held 1st March 2024, Friday.
My class students started the practice after the second terminal examination. In spite of hectic schedule, my students were enthusiastic for the performance. We practiced n all the minor subject lectures.
The stage was decorated on the event day with a poster having a theme titled ‘Never Give Up.’
The program started sharply at 8:20 a.m. with a short introduction followed by a prayer dance and prayer service with intensions.
After the prayer service a poem ‘Do Not Give Up’ was recited by heart.
The students depicted a beautiful message through an act titled “Never Give Up!” to mark the theme in a true sense.
Then Gymnastic Exercises were displayed by one of the students of my class. She has won medals and a trophy for the same. By her solo performance, she presented the theme Never Give up!
Later the students performed an action song. They sang and performed actions very well.
Without an entertainment dance an occasion is never complete! The students gave an energetic and vibrant performance through a Bollywood dance.
Then we had a thought-provoking speech and interaction with the whole school students by Ms. Celeste, the class teacher of class IV B.
Lastly, the program ended with the singing of the school song.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS 1 A

Theme : LOVE
Date: 10/02/2024
          The General Assembly of class I A was on the 10th of February 2024. The Theme of the assembly was “LOVE”.
          The assembly had total six performances which were performed by the children with active participation of the entire class. The assembly began with an introduction given by the teacher asking the entire school what is celebrated on the 14th of February. Children answered its Valetine’s Day. Hence the teacher explained why do we celebrate it and How did it start; by telling about ST. Valentine.
The assembly began with the prayer service followed by a beautiful prayer dance on love and gratitude to the Almighty. Two students Zara and Sarah compared the entire programme well. After the prayer dance the 5 girls danced on an Action song “LOVE and SERVICE” followed by a skit titled “THE MAGIC OF LOVE”. Through the skit a message was give how one can use the magic of love by doing good things. The full class came up on stage to perform the entertainment dance to which the whole school enjoyed by clapping their hands which brought the assembly to a happy and joyful note. The teacher then invited the cabinet members to hold up plackcards to show Love for God , Parents, Gandparents, Teachers, Friend , Nature, Reading, Cleanliness, Punctuality, etc; so that the children learn that Love is not just to love someone without meaning and it is certainly not for materialistic things it’s much more which left each one to ponder upon . Then the teacher called for the students of class 1A to go and give the hand made keychains to all the Headmistress, Teachers ,Staff members and School Helpers just ot show their love towards everyone.
Ms Oreen was called on stage to give a feed back on the assembly, she also asked relevant questions standard wise to see if the children were attentive for the assembly. She spoke words of encouragement for the students of class 1 A and appreciated their performance and the teacher as well. The class teacher gave a vote of thanks after which the NATIONAL ANTHEM was sung by the whole school and everyone dispersed and continued their daily routine.

26th January– Republic Day

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated the 75th Republic Day programme along with the flag hoisting ceremony on 26th January, 2024 at 7:45 a.m. in the school. The programme was attended by our chief guest, Ms. Neerja Joshi (an ex- student of our school), the school manager Sr.Namika, other community sisters, teachers and the cabinet members of the school and their parents.
The programme commenced with a march pass. The school sports captain Mauli Joshipura gave the commands and School head girl Zoya Naviwala lead the other cabinets for the same. Ms. Vaseeta introduced Ms. Neerja Joshi and the school manager, Sr. Namika. Everybody welcomed them with a loud round of applause. A little introduction was given about the celebration followed by a prayer service. The sports captain, Mauli Joshipura and the school head girl, Zoya Naviwala lead the chief guest of the programme. Ms.Neerja Joshi and the school manager Sr. Namika to the flag post to hoist the national flag. The Sports captain gave the command to salute the flag followed by a national anthem. Our chief guest, Ms. Neerja Joshi shared her valuable thoughts on Republic Day. The principal of our school, Sr. Shanthi proposed a vote of thanks with her kind words. Lastly Ms. Vaseeta concluded the program with a little motivational note.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 2 D

Theme: RESPECT
Date: 25.01.2024
                            A general assembly on the theme ‘Respect’ was conducted by the students of class 2D with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 25th January, 2024.
                             The assembly began with a prayer dance followed by a prayer service. A poem recital “On Respect” and a speech on the Significance of Republic Day added value to the program.
                             The students enacted a short skit which stressed the importance of giving respect to all elders , parents, teachers, helpers, Mother Nature and Our Nation. Melodious Respect song and mesmerizing Patriotic dance performance was presented by the students. There was a feeling of pride and patriotism in everyone’s heart.
                             Ms. Sonica appreciated the efforts of all the students. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the class teacher Ms. Vaseeta Elavia expressing her gratitude to one and all.
                           The programme ended with the National Anthem, which was sung by the whole school with gusto.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF OUR HEADMISTRESS SR. SHANTHI A.C.

“Count your life by smiles not tears. Count your age by friends, not years.”
Dedicating one’s entire life to the service of humanity is a calling, a vocation that only the truly blessed can. As 1st January 2024 was a public holiday, on 2nd January, 2024 the entire school was present to wish their headmistress Sr. Shanthi A.C. a Happy Birthday and to invoke God’s choicest blessings upon her.
The programme commenced with a prayer service conducted by Ms. Tina and other teachers. A melodious birthday song sung by all our teachers. The staff had a small celebration in the staff room where we had a short prayer, presenting of a sapling by Ms. Roshni and a beautiful birthday card by made and presented by Ms. Celine. We had the cake cutting ceremony followed by light refreshments. It was an enjoyable and memorable experience for Sr. Shanthi and she thanked everyone for showering their love on her.

MOTHER VERONICA CHRISTMAS DANCE COMPETITION

The Mother Veronica Christmas Dance Competition commenced with a warm introduction, setting the tone for an evening of celebration and talent. Gratitude was extended in the opening remarks, acknowledging the blessings received and expressing appreciation for the opportunity to gather in joyous festivity. Esteemed judges were accorded a gracious welcome, introducing each member to the audience, setting the stage for the impartial assessment and encouragement they would provide throughout the event. The heart of the event unfolded through captivating performances by the competing houses. Each house, adorned in their distinctive colors, brought forth their choreographed brilliance one after another. The sequence was meticulously structured, starting with the dynamic showcase of the Red House, followed by the vibrant energy of the Yellow House, the gracefulness of the Blue House, and culminating with the spirited performance by the Green House. Ms. Jovita, in her distinctive manner, addressed the young talents, commending their dedication, creativity, and commitment showcased through their performances. Her words resonated with encouragement and appreciation, inspiring the children to continue pursuing their passions with fervour. The momentous occasion of prize distribution ensued, acknowledging the exemplary efforts of the participants. Ms. Saloni had the honour of presenting the runners-up house award, while the winning house accolade was shared by Ms. Jovita and a respected senior member, highlighting the collective achievement and spirit of collaboration. A heartfelt vote of thanks reverberated through the gathering, expressing gratitude to all contributors—participants, organizers, sponsors, and attendees—for their invaluable support and dedication that made the event a resounding success. The event concluded on a harmonious note as the school song echoed through the venue, fostering a sense of unity and school pride among all present. Capturing the cherished moments, a lively photo session ensued, commemorating the achievements. The winners' house was first adorned with smiles and trophies, followed by the runners-up house, and finally, the other two houses, each framed alongside their respective in-charge teachers, preserving the camaraderie and spirit of the competition. In essence, the Mother Veronica Christmas Dance Competition was a celebration of talent, unity, and spirited competition, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the participants and leaving an indelible mark of joy and accomplishment for all involved.

FUN DAY IN SCHOOL

Even though you're growing up, you should never stop having fun. ...
Everyone needs a little unstructured fun in their day, and Fun Day is perfect for having time dedicated to exactly that. It gives everybody the chance to unwind, relax, and get a little silly, released from the confines of orderly school and work routine to remember what life is supposed to be all about.
Fun activities such as playing games increases motivation in students, making it essential for teachers to engage them in games and activities that boost their energy.
So the school had organized few games like Aiming a ball, Throwing a ring, Jumping Jack and DJ Dance for classes 1 to 4. The Fun Day plus Canteen Day began at 8:15 a.m. and ended at 12:45 p.m. We also distributed some snacks like Panini, Frooti, Popcorn and Choco Pie to all the students. The children who won games were awarded with prizes.
Fun Day is a day to ensure that you have fun for the entire day. We need a little unstructured fun in our school days in order to make them memorable.

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION

Carmel Primary School, this significant day was commemorated with an array of engaging activities and heartfelt celebrations on 9th November, 2023.
The entire event was meticulously organized and hosted by a dedicated team of teachers. Their commitment and enthusiasm added a special touch to the celebration, ensuring a memorable experience for all the students.
The day commenced with a solemn prayer service, fostering a serene and reflective atmosphere, setting the tone for the celebration.
A thoughtful speech was delivered by Ms. Christina, highlighting the significance of Children's Day and honouring the legacy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, emphasizing his love for children and his vision for their bright future.
A lively skit was performed by the teachers, creatively portraying the essence of childhood and the importance of innocence, joy, and learning in a child's life.
An entertaining dance performed by the teachers captivated the children, followed by a melodious song sung by talented teachers, resonating with the spirit of childhood.
Children actively participated in engaging riddle sessions, stimulating their minds and fostering a sense of curiosity and fun.
Teachers, in a heartwarming gesture, performed the vibrant and rhythmic 'Garba,' showcasing their enthusiasm.
The Headmistress Sr. Shanthi delivered an inspiring address, acknowledging the role of children in shaping the future and encouraging them to pursue their dreams with dedication and zest.
A sincere vote of thanks by the Head girl Zoya and Ms. Celeste was extended to teachers involved in organizing and contributing to the event, expressing gratitude for their efforts in making the celebration a success.
The celebration continued with children dancing joyously to lively tunes, spreading infectious energy and happiness all around.
The celebration culminated with the entire school coming together to sing the school anthem, raising a sense of unity and pride among the students.
The Children's Day celebration at Mt. Carmel Primary School was a delightful blend of entertainment, inspiration, and heartfelt moments, celebrating the spirit of childhood and emphasizing the importance of nurturing and cherishing the young minds that will shape the future.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 2 B

THEME : DIWALI CELEBRATION
DATE: 07/11/2023
 “Shine like sparkles, glow like lamps and burn all the negativity like crackers.”
The above quote was the caption for starting the general assembly of std 2nd B. It tells us to be positive and to let go of any negativity.
The general assembly of 2nd B was filled with excitement and anxiousness from the students. Many of the students were performing for the first time on the stage and so were nervous but once they were on the stage they were totally ready to perform.
The programme began at 8:15 on 7th November, 2023 in the school assembly hall of Mount Carmel Primary School, Khanpur. The programme began by greeting the headmistress Sr. Shanthi. A short introduction given by Fatima Pomchawala about what is Diwali and why it is celebrated. As God plays an important role in our life, a prayer dance and prayer service were performed followed by a skit based on the topic of ‘Green Diwali’ giving the message of celebrating Diwali by burning less crackers and having more of family bonding and merry making to save and protect the environment. The students performed an action song by wishing the audience a ‘Happy Diwali’ followed by a foot tapping entertainment dance by the students. The overall ambience was exciting and the audience could not control cheering for the students. Sr. Shanthi gave an inspiring and motivating speech on Diwali and suggested to burn less crackers to save the environment.
The programme ended with a group photo session which had happy and satisfied faces posing for the photographs. The goal of building confidence in the students and bringing out their inner talent by removing the thoughts of nervousness and stage fright was achieved.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 3 D

THEME: UNITY IS STRENGTH
DATE: 03/11/2023
‘Morning assembly makes the students feel fresh, energetic with positive vibrations.It boosts the hidden talents of the children.’ Given the theme ‘Unity is strength’ the students of class III D presented a mesmerizing assembly on 3rdNovember 2023. The assembly was organised under the guidance of the class teacher Ms.Sapna Rodricks. The assembly commenced with a beautiful prayer dance followed by prayer service, thought for the day and a poem on unity. The students acted out a small skit giving a strong and powerful message about how our strength increases many fold if we remain together unitedly. They also presented a variety of beautiful gestures and expressions through an action song. Lastly the girls danced to some foot tapping music and entertained everyone. Overall the assembly was conducted smoothly and the audience was enthralled by the impeccable performance of the students. The general assembly concluded with encouraging words from Ms.Tina. Finally the assembly culminated with the singing of the school anthem.

SCHOOL PICNIC

DATE: 25, 26 & 27 OCTOBER
Picnics are a fun way to engage with our family and friends. We get to spend quality time with them. An outing like a picnic freshens our relationships and strengthens the bond with our dear ones.
Mount Carmel Primary School, Khanpur organized the annual children’s picnic in the month of October to “PLEASURE CLUB”. The students enjoyed the swings, different rides, discotheque and the revitalizing greenery. Std- 1 & 2 went on 25th October, Std- 3 on 26th October and Std – 4 on 27th October.
School picnics are full of fun and enjoyment. Every school picnic always creates beautiful memories that last a life time.
School picnics provide a great opportunity for students to cherish wonderful experience and face a range of challenges that can contribute significantly to their personal development. Hence, it is important that students must participate in the picnic as it provides a holistic education.

NAVRATRI CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL

Navratri, meaning 'nine nights', is one of the most popular and widely celebrated Hindu festivals in many parts of India. Gujarat, however, is the only state that erupts into a nine-night dance festival, perhaps the longest in the world.
It marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil Mahishasura. People worship the nine avatars or incarnations of Maa Durga for nine days.
Navratri is celebrated differently in India's various regions with great zeal and enthusiasm. For many people it is a time of religious reflection and fasting, while for others it is a time for dancing and feasting.
So this year, our school celebrated Navratri celebration on 21st of October in the school hall class wise. Our girls dressed up in their traditional and vibrant costumes and were very excited about this celebration.

OUTREACH PROGRAM OF CLASS - 3

An Outreach Program in honour of Mother Veronica the foundress of our school, was organized on 21st October by the students of std 3. A group of students along with the headmistress Sr. Shanthi and the teachers went to Jeevan Sandhya an old aged home in Mirzapur. They started out with a prayer service praying for the old people and seeking God's blessings upon them and all those who serve there, followed by a short introduction about Mother Veronica. The children sang a beautiful song on Mother Veronica as well. They concluded the program with a foot tapping dance on all the old hindi movie songs which brought great joy to all the seniors. They actually went down memory lane as they watched the children perform. Soon the sisters and some seniors stood up and shook a leg as well while all the other clapped and cheered along. The students then interacted with all the seniors by going to each of them and shaking their hands, talking to them and seeking their blessings. The students gave each senior a small gift to show their love for them and make them feel special. It was truly an inspiring program from which the students and teachers were greatly benefitted. An enriching experience a beautiful memory was created !!!

FIRE FIGHTING TRAINING IN SCHOOL

To educate and train the students for an unforeseen emergency situation like a fire Mount Carmel Primary School conducted a Fire Fighting Training for all the students on 18th October 2023. The students were brought down along with their teachers to the hall. They were equipped with the knowledge and necessary skills to manage and extinguish fire by the trainer. The trainer explained the students the necessary steps to be taken in case of fire, different types of fire extinguishers and their usage. They were also made aware of the fire alarm at the end of the training.
The objective behind this training was to create awareness among the students of firefighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of emergency situation.

MOTHER VERONICA BLOOD DONATION CAMP

"The Gift of blood is the Gift of Life" A blood donation camp in collaboration with Ray of Hope Charitable trust was organized on 14th Oct at Mount Carmel Primary school, in honour of Our foundress Venerable Mother Veronica. A Parent Teacher Meeting was arranged on the same day. A number of parents and teachers donated generously towards this camp. God loves a generous giver. May the Almighty continue to bless us all.

Mother Veronica Singing Competition

“Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart.”
Mother Veronica, foundress of the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel was deeply religious and highly intellectual. She was born on October 1, 1823. In honour of her Bicentinnial Birth Anniversary celebrations, an Inter-class singing competition was held for the students of std. III and IV on 13th October, 2023.
Each class was trained under the guidance of their class teacher and showed their mastery over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. Through this competition, children expressed their gratitude and love towards Mother Veronica. The audience too experienced the divine feeling towards mother through the melodious singing by the participants.
Our judges for the competiton were Sr.Roselin, Sr. Mohini and Ms. Lendrina. The participants performed with great courage and enthusiasm. Their innocent voices touched everyone’s heart and left us speechless. The judges were mesmerized by their performance and presentation. Our esteemed judge Sr. Roselin shared her joyful experience. Soonafter the winners of the competition were announced and were awarded with a trophy.
Std. III C and Std. IV A won the first prize and Std. III A and Std. IV B grabbed the runner up position among their respective standards.
The divine musical competition ended with great pomp and enthusiasm. But it wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and support of our Headmistress Sr. Shanthi, Justin Sir our music teacher and the patience of our teachers and parents, the hardwork of our children and moreover the blessings of our foundress, Mother Veronica.
The competition ended with a school anthem. It was a great experience and everybody had a great time.

GK Quiz

The GK Quiz Competition was held on 13th October, Friday at 11 o’clock.
The students of 3rd and 4th standard took part in the competition. The Quiz Competition was conducted by Miss Maya and Miss Leena.
There were four rounds in the Quiz Competition that consisted of first round was sport, second round was spellings and full form, third round was advertisements and voice, fourth round was current affairs.
Certain points were to be followed by the participants. A few questions were asked to the audience also.
Sister Shanti concluded by giving a few encouraging words to the 3rd and 4th standard students. Sister Namika our manager gave out the certificates for the winning team that was the Red House, Sister Shanti our head mistress gave out the certificate to all the other participants.
The quiz was conducted very well and the children enjoyed a lot.

RECITATION COMPETITION- 2023

Poem Recitation Competition is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the latent talents of the children. Poetry and Rhymes help and develop physical awareness. Students who recite poetry are aware of breathe coordination movements of the mouth and other physical gestures as they align these to the rhythm in the poetry.
Recitation Competition was organized on 12th October , 2023 in the School hall for grade 1 & 2.
17 Students participated in the Competition with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The Chief guests for the competition were Ms. Liesl Fonseca and Ms. Diana Fernandes.
The program commenced at 8:15 am and ended at 09:30 am.
The young poets enthralled the audience with their articulation and memory skills while reciting poems.
It was a splendid opportunity for them to gain confidence through stage exposure. Everyone was delighted after seeing their pleasing performances.
The judges appreciated and applauded the performances of the participants.
Mrs. Diana Fernandes appreciated the efforts of all the students with her inspirational words. The winners of the Recitation competition for Std 1 were felicitated by Teacher Diana with a certificate. The winners of the Recitation competition for Std 2 were felicitated by Teacher Liesl with a certificate. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Teacher Manisha expressing her gratitude to one and all.
Three prizes were given to grade 1 and grade 2.
Ms. Manisha and Ms. Celine were in charge of the recitation program.

A Tribute to Mother Veronica: Inter-class Quiz Competition on the Life of Mother Veronica

The power of prayer, silence, submission to God’s will of our foundress Mother Veronica who chose to sail across seven seas which was more than 150 years ago to lay the foundation to educate and empower the girl child here in India. In order to pay a tribute to Venerable Mother Veronica, Mount Carmel Primary School, Khanpur organized a quiz based on the life of Mother Veronica for the students of Standard 1 & 2 on 12th October 2023. As every event requires proper planning and preparation, for this event too the class teachers had selected and trained few students as representatives of their respective classes for the quiz competition. The quiz was conducted in the presence of Respected Sr. Namika – the Manager, Respected Sr. Shanthi – the Headmistress, teachers and students of Standard 1 & 2. A short introduction about Mother Veronica was given followed by the quiz. The students were energetic and spontaneous in answering whereas the audience was thrilled and excited. After the quiz ended Sr. Shanthi addressed the students with a positive and motivating speech which was followed by the Prize Distribution. Sr. Namika gave away the trophies to the winners of Std 1. The winning team for Std 1 was Std 1st A and the Runner-up trophy went to Std 1st C. Sr. Shanthi gave away the trophies to the winners of Std. 2. Std 2 A won the 1st place and Std 2C won the Runner up trophy for the second standard. The target of making the students aware of the life of Mother Veronica was met as we could see students enthusiastically responding to the questions asked in the quiz. Everyone was filled with happiness and the spirit of joy spread everywhere.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 3 B

A General Assembly was held by class III B on 30th September 2023 (Saturday) in Mount Carmel Primary School. The class celebrated the life of Saint Therese (Feast on 1st October) and acknowledge the hard work and sacrifices made by the father of our nation- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October). Each child was given a chance to be a part of the Assembly to build up their confidence.
As Carmelites start every event and occasion with prayer, so the Assembly began with offering prayer to the Supreme Almighty. Saint Therese was one of the theme of the assembly, therefore quote of Saint Therese, story, speech and a song was dedicated to her. The Assembly continued with the second theme that is Gandhi Jayanti, so a quote of Mahatma Gandhi, few dances, speech and a skit on Gandhiji's three wise monkeys were showcased by the students. The children ended the Assembly with an entertainment dance. They made the event joyful with their impressive performances.
The class teacher expressed her gratitude to God and each one for making the event successful. Ms Christina concluded the program with her encouraging words and appreciated the efforts of all the students.
A special guest- Ms Reena came all the way from Jaipur to make the students aware about the underprivileged children through Search Forms were distributed to the students to donate towards this cause. Mount Carmel Primary School had participated in Inter School Choir Competition 2023 (26th August) held at St. Xavier's School, Loyola Hall, in which our school bagged 2nd position, which is a moment of pride for us. The winners of the same and Rakhi Making Competition held in the school (26th August) were felicitated with the certificates. The program ended with the National Anthem.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 3 C

TOPIC: MOTHER VERONICA
Date: 4/10/2023
The General Assembly of Std 3 C was held on the 4th of October on the Topic - Mother Veronica. This was the 200th birthday of Mother Veronica and the closing of her Bicentennial Birth Anniversary Celebrations. The assembly began with prayers, followed by a prayer dance. A small skit based on Mother Veronica's gem "BE CONSTANT IN PRAYER" was acted out by the students. They gave a strong and powerful message about always making prayer an important aspect for our lives. The students then sang a beautiful song on Mother Veronica, wherein the entire school also sang along enthusiastically and a few of her gems were also displayed around the stage. Lastly the girls danced to some foot tapping music and entertained everyone. Sr Shanthi was pleased with the assembly and she spoke on Mother Veronica, encouraging the students to know about Mother Veronica and her life. She also prayed for Sr. Nirmalini the Superior General of the Carmelite order as she celebrated her birthday on 2nd October. Finally the assembly culminated with the singing of the school anthem.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS – 2 A

THEME: TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
DATE: 05/09/2023

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated Teacher's Day on 5th September, 2023 at 8:30 A.M. in the school hall. The programme was attended by our Manager Respected Sr. Namika, other community sisters, teachers and all the students. The program was conducted by Std II – A students. Every student was given a chance to be a part of the Assembly to build up their confidence.
The programme commenced with an introduction, a grand welcome programme was arranged for the teachers. The teachers were led to the stage in a procession with a loud applause. The programme started with a prayer service followed by an expressive prayer dance. It included a poem, action song, speech on teachers day, skit and entertainment dance.
The students showcased a wonderful skit based on the theme ‘Respect and Satisfaction ‘where in the children were made aware about importance of satisfaction. The girls of class 2ndA entertained everyone with their vibrant dance performances. All the students presented a remarkable performance in the programme. At the end of the programme Ms. Manisha proposed a speech on Teacher's Day. Lastly the class teacher delivered a vote of thanks. After the ceremony a group photo of the staff along with Sr. Namika was taken. A special Mass was offeredforthe teachers. A surprised IQ test, based on the questions related to the foundation of Apostolic Carmel Congregation was conducted by Sr. Namika It was really very interesting. Itwas a day filled with excitement for the teachers.Entertaining games suchas Musical Chair was organized for the teachers followed with scrumptious lunch. The winners were given the prizes. And a token of love was presented to each teacher for their dedication by Sr. Namika

The students focussed on the theme hardwork where students were made aware to work hard in all aspects of life. Every student was given a chance to be a part of the Assembly to build up their confidence.
The Assembly started with an expressive prayer dance followed by a prayer service. It included a poem, thought of the day, action song, lyrical dance, skit and entertainment dance.
The students showcased a wonderful skit based on the theme hardwork where in the children were made aware that Hardwork is the key to success whereas laziness leads us nowhere. The girls of class 3rd A entertained everyone with their vibrant dance performances. All the students presented a remarkable performance in the Assembly. Lastly the class teacher delivered a vote of thanks.
The Assembly was concluded with the encouraging words by Ms Sonia on the theme Hardwork.

Rakhi Making Compition

Rakhi also known as Raksha Bandhan manifests, the true love and bond between brothers and sisters.

This year Rakhi festival was celebrated on 30th August. A Rakhi making competition was organised during the craft periods in our school, on 26th August, 2023.

The students enthusiastically participated in this activity and showcased their talent by creating beautiful handmade rakhi’s using craft as well as waste material.

The school authorities appreciated every active participant and motivated the children to take part in future activities as well.
The winners were selected house wise and certificates will be awarded to them, during the next General Assembly.

Independence Day Craft/Drawing Competition

Co-curricular activities, helps display the hidden talents of our little ones.
This year to celebrate India’s 76th Independence Day and ignites the patriotic spirit among the students, an Independence Day Craft / Drawing Competition was held on 10th August in school.
Students were encouraged to make different National Symbols. All of them came up with very impressive works of art.
The competition was judged house wise and four winners from each class were selected. They were awarded certificates at the General Assembly on the 12th of August.

Theme: Independence Day
Date: 12.08.2023
                            Independence Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forefathers and the responsibility; we have to uphold their legacy. It is a day to pay homage to the brave freedom fighters who fought for our liberty and to reflect on the values and principles that define our great nation.
                            A general assembly on the theme ‘Independence Day’ was conducted by the students of class 4D with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 12th August, 2023.
                              The assembly showcased a series of patriotic performances. The assembly began with a prayer dance followed by a prayer service. A poem recital “Let My Country Awake’ written by Guru Rabindranath Tagore and a speech on the Significance of Independence Day added value to the program.
                             The students enacted a short skit which stressed the importance of unity in diversity. Melodious patriotic songs and mesmerizing dance performance was presented by the students. There was a feeling of pride and patriotism in everyone’s heart.
                             Sr Namika, the Manager of the school appreciated the efforts of all the students. The winners of the handwriting competition for Std 1 held on 17th July and Independence Day Craft competition held on 10th August were felicitated with a certificate. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the class teacher expressing her gratitude to one and all.
                           The programme ended with the National Anthem, which was sung by the whole school with fervor and gusto.

     The Assembly started with an expressive prayer dance followed by a prayer service. It included thought of the day, the news report reading, Introduction of the theme an awesome action song and an entertainment dance.
       The students showcased a wonderful skit based on the theme and expressed their gratitude to the teachers and the non teaching staff by presenting a rose. The girls of class 4th C entertained everyone with their vibrant dance performance. All the students presented a remarkable performance in the Assembly. Lastly the class teacher put up a few questions to the students based on the theme and delivered a vote of thanks.
      The Assembly was concluded with the encouraging words by Ms Sylvia and the school Headmistress, Sr.Shanthi on the theme Gratitude.

15th August – Independence Day programme

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated the 76th Independence Day programme along with the flag hoisting ceremony on 15th August,2023 at 7:45 a.m. in the school. The programme was attended by our chief guest, Mr. Rushabh Singh (taekwondo instructor of our school), the school manager Sr.Namika, other community sisters, teachers and the cabinet members of the school and their parents.
The programme commenced with a march pass. The school sports captain Mauli Joshipura gave the commands and School head girl Zoya Naviwala lead the other cabinets for the same. Ms. Manisha introduced Mr. Rushabh Singh and the school manager, Sr. Namika. Everybody welcomed them with a loud round of applause. A little introduction was given about the celebration followed by a prayer service. The sports captain, Mauli Joshipura and the school head girl, Zoya Naviwala lead the chief guest of the programme Mr.Rushabh Singh and the school manager Sr. Namika to the flag post to hoist the national flag. The Sports captain gave the command to salute the flag followed by a national anthem. Ms.Leena delivered a speech on Independence Day. Our chief guest, Mr. Rushabh Singh shared his valuable thoughts on Independence Day. Lastly, the secretary of our school, Ms. Liesl proposed a vote of thanks with her kind words. After the ceremony, a small flag and sweets were distributed to all those who were present for the celebration.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CLASS - 4B

A general assembly was conducted by the students of class IV B on 14th July 2023. The theme given to the students was “Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast”.

The assembly commenced with a beautiful prayer dance followed by a prayer service, a song, a skit, and an energetic dance. The students worked together as a team and presented a variety of beautiful gestures and expressions through dance. They also performed an enactment on St. Simon Stock.

All the students presented a remarkable performance in their class assembly. The performances were appreciated by the audience. The winners of the handwriting competition held on 28th June were felicitated with a certificate. The school assembly concluded with encouraging words from the headmistress Sr. Shanthi. She told the students about Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The assembly ended with a school song sung by all the children with dedication.

As the school celebrates its feast on 16th July, mass was held on 15th July in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the school hall. All the sisters, staff, parents and students had attended the same.

Handwriting Competition - 2023

An English Handwriting Competition for classes I to IV was organised at Mount Carmel Primary School on 28th June, Wednesday. The main objective of the competition was to motivate the students to enhance their writing skills. It provided the students with an opportunity to display their writing skills and neatness.


The competition was conducted in the respective classrooms. The response of the students was very encouraging. Majority of the students have tried their best to show case their writing skills beautifully.

A school assembly inculcates values, responsibilities, care, and team spirit. Given the theme “Value of Time,” the students of class IV A presented an assembly on 28th June 2023. They emphasized the importance of time management and how it enables people to do more and better work on time by knowing its value.
The assembly commenced with a beautiful prayer dance followed by a prayer service, a skit, and an energetic dance. The students worked together as a team and presented a variety of beautiful gestures and expressions through dance. They also performed the skit on how to manage time between studies and play to get good academic results and had a moral that one who handles the present by properly utilizing time will become a winner in the future.
All the students presented a remarkable performance in their class assembly. The performances were appreciated by the audience. The school assembly concluded with encouraging words from the headmistress Sr. Shanthi. She told the students to value time, the most significant aspect of life.
The assembly ended with a school song sung by all the children with dedication.

Orientation (2023-2024)

Mount Carmel Primary School organised an orientation programme for the parents of classes I to IV students. It was held in the school assembly hall on the 23rd June 2023. It was conducted by the class teachers of each class.
The programme began with a prayer song followed by a prayer. The Headmistress, Sr. Shanthi spoke about our school Foundress “Mother Veronica” and reiterated the school vision. Each class teacher spoke about the school rules and the regulations. They also introduced about the New School Connect App which is created this year to keep the parents updated regarding the different events, activities, their child’s performance, H.W., messages, etc.
The event proved to be a very fruitful one.

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derived from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.


The Permanent Mission of India organized the 9th International Day of Yoga under the theme "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (Yoga for 'The World is One Family').
