Staff picnic of Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote organized a staff picnic on 25th March 2023 to Aalloa Hills Resort, Gandhinagar. The staff left the school premises at 7:00 a.m. and reached their destination at 9:00 a.m. They were welcomed with a refreshing welcome drink followed by some mouth-watering breakfast. Couple of outdoor activities were organised like pool, table tennis, swimming, cycling, badminton, etc. The staff had a great time de-stressing themselves in the company of each other along with some scrumptious food. They returned to school by 7:00 p.m. It was an enjoyable day with a feeling of relaxation and entertainment.

Farewell celebration of Std IV (2022-2023)

               “Goodbyes are not forever,
               Goodbyes are not the end.
               They just mean we will miss you,
               Until we meet again.”
The teachers and students of Class III organized a programme to bid a lively and joyful farewell to Class IV on Wednesday, 29th March, 2023 in the Assembly hall. The function began with a prayer dance followed by the prayer service. A beautiful farewell song was sung by the students of Class III and a skit based on moral values was performed by these juniors for their seniors. Last but not the least, a dynamic dance performance was executed by the Class III students.
               The programme of Class IV continued with an interacting session by our Headmistress Resp. Sr. Shanthi, motivating the students and expecting them to inculcate the values in life that are taught in this institution. She further bid the students a warm goodbye and wished them goodluck for their future.
               Thereafter, certificates were distributed to the winners of the Mother Veronica Quiz Competition. On behalf of Class IV, the Assistant Head Girl, Brooklyn Rathod expressed her gratitude towards the School management and the entire staff.
                At the end, games were conducted for the outgoing students. Students danced on the lively and funky music and enjoyed themselves to the full. Lastly, snacks were served to the students of class IV and were made happy by a geometry box gift.

Catechism Day

Mount Carmel Primary School organized The Catechism Day on 18th March 2023. All the catholic students and teachers were very excited especially the teachers as we were the host.
The program started sharp at 9 a.m. with the welcome of Reverend Father Hillary Pereira S.J.
 Respected Sister Shanthi, the headmistress of the school honoured him with a sapling. Ms. Monica Christian gave an introduction of Rev. Fr. Hilary S.J.
We remembered the foundress of the school Mother Veronica on this occasion. The students of std 4 sang a song on this special day.
Carmel means prayer and so the students of std 1 performed a prayer service and a prayer dance.
Later the catholic students of std 3 performed an action song on Lent and the students of std 4 performed on the song – ‘Lord I lift your name.’
The catholic students of std 2 came up with a beautiful skit with the moral that we should keep God in centre of our life. It was a well performed act by students so the parents applauded.
After the skit, the catholic students of std 3 and 4 performed an action song – ‘Love the Lord’. It was performed very well.
After that father called all the students for the guidance on faith formation.
The youth organisation requested all the children to attend a special talk and activities in the library.
Reverend Father Hillary Pereira S.J gave an inspirational speech on the Lent season to all the parents and the staff in the assembly hall. The school management served refreshments to all present towards the end.
Everyone looked very happy with the catechism day celebration.

Value Education Day

Values are like fingerprints, nobody’s are the same but you leave them all over everything you do.Having moral values means having strong roots. For example the trees having a healthy root means having healthy leaves and branches. And for people having a strong root of healthy values means good thoughts and healthy life. Mount Carmel School plays an important role in imparting moral values through Joyful Living classes. Mount Carmel Primary School celebrated Value Education Day on 27th March 2023 which started with an assembly based on gratitude by class 4thA followed by a message given by the headmistress Sr. Shanthi thatvalues are to be practiced daily and not only just for a day. Each standard had the celebration in their own classes which included Prayers, songs, activities and skit.The celebration brought out the values learnt throughout the year 2022-23.
“Great satisfaction comes from sharing with others.”
The children happily shared their healthy snacks brought from home with each other.
The celebration came to an end with the prayer to Mother of Carmel.

Women’s Day

8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day worldwide, commemorating the political, social and economic achievements of women.
We at Mount Carmel Primary School celebrated women’s day on the 7th of March in the school hall at 8:30am. The programme commenced with a brief history of women’s day followed by prayer service by class 3 and prayer dance by little ones of std 1. Students of class 4 paid a tribute to some of the inspiring females like Mother Veronica, Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa etc after which students of std 2 performed an entertainment dance.Lastly the headmistress Sr.Shanthi proposed a speech and the programme concluded with the singing of the school anthem.
Ms Sapna Rodricks was incharge of the women’s day programme.
A seminar was conducted for the teachers of Carmel Cote on the 7th of March in the school hall at 10:30am after the women’s day celebration. The seminar begun with a prayer followed by a short introduction and welcome of the guests Dr.Nupoor Prajapati(MD-Critical Care) and Mr.Michael Paul Christian(Quality Head, Lifecare Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research). The guests raised awareness about the different health issues faced by women and also provided insights into managing the body better. The seminar concluded with an interactive session where the teachers interacted with the speakers clarifying their doubts and asking questions regarding their health issues.

Annual day programme report 2022-23

Mount Carmel primary school, Khanpur Celebrated their annual programme 2022-23 on 25th February with great pomp and enthusiasm, at Diamond Jubilee hall Loyola, Ahmedabad.It was a show solely conceptualised,designed and executed by the faculty and students of Mount Carmel school.
The programme showcased the theme ‘Unity in diversity’.2 shows were partly divided on the basis of the classes.The first show was for Standard 2 and 4 And the second show was for standard 1 and 3.The first show was graced by the chief guest Rev. FR. Francis Macwan, SJ and the second show by the chief guest Mr. Michael Paul, Respected Sr. Namika A/C, Headmistress Sr. Shanti A/C, all the sisters, staff members and administrative staff. Both the shows commenced with the lightning of the lamp followed by the tribute to the lady of apostolic carmel - Mother Veronica. The felicitation ceremony was held for the teachers who completed their 25 years of service in Mount Carmel Miss Monica Christian, Miss Maya Fonseca and Mr Jayanti bhai. The event was set rolling by a skit introduction, a Hawaiian dance, welcome song and by evoking the blessings of the almighty Lord by a prayer dance. The programme progress with the mesmerising dance performance showcasing dances of vivid states of India like Punjab, Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, South India and a martial art performed by the girls. The chief guest presented an inspirational speech which made each one present feel proud of their association with the school. A vote of thanks was presented by Miss Tina And Miss Jillian for all those made the programme a successful one. The programme came to a conclusion by breathtaking spectacular grand finale dance paying homage to the motherland. It left the audience spellbound and craving for more the show not only enchanted all but it also brought to the fore the latent talent of students which have been unlocked in this attempt.

Birthday Celebration of our Headmistress Sr. Shanthi A.C. which was on 1st January 2023

Dedicating one’s entire life to the service of humanity is a calling, a vocation that only the truly blessed can. As 1st January 2023 was a public holiday. On 2nd January, 2023 the entire school was present to wish their headmistress Sr. Shanthi A.C. Happy Birthday and to invoke God’s choicest blessings upon her.
The programme commenced with a prayer service conducted by Ms. Seema, the senior most teacher of our school and a melodious birthday song sung by Ms. Jillian. The staff had a small celebration in the staff room where we had a short prayer, presenting a flower bouquet by Ms. Slyvia, cake cutting and some snacks were served to everyone. It was an enjoyable and memorable moment. Sr. Shanthi thanked everyone for showering their love on her.

A report on Provincial visit

Respected Provincial Superior of the Apostolic Carmel sisters. Maria Christie had visited Mount Carmel primary school, kanpur Ahmedabad on 10th January 2023 it was an inordinately interaction between the staff and respected sister, Maria Christy. A short prayer service was conducted by the teachers. A short introduction speech was delivered by Miss Jillian. There were a few questions that were asked regarding the school functioning and upcoming events by our respected sister Maria. We the staff and the management enjoyed the company of our dear sister and were indeed lucky to have her in our midst. At the end we had some delicious snacks served by our teachers.

Republic Day

The 26th of January, our Republic Day is a red letter day as the constitution of free India came into effect.
We at Mount Carmel celebrated the 74th Republic Day and Swearing in Ceremony of the newly elected cabinets for the year 2023-24 on 25th January under the guidance of 3rd std teachers.
The celebration started with the prayer service by lighting the lamp in which our manager Sr.Namika, headmistress Sr. Shanthi MS. Roshni, Ms Smita and Ms. Hiral were called.
Std 1 students led us into prayer.
The school held the swearing in ceremony with great enthusiasm. The event began with the march past by newly elected cabinets followed by the outgoing 4th standard cabinets by handing over the school flags and house flags.

The newly elected cabinets took an Oath by repeating the pledge which was delivered by the Head girl.
After completion of the oath taking, the vote of thanks was delivered by the newly elected Head girl .Thereafter the vote of thanks was delivered by the present assistant head girl on behalf of the outgoing cabinets
A short cultural program on Republic Day was conducted with a speech followed by patriotic action song by class 4 and entertainment dance by class 2.
At the end the headmistress Sr. Shanthi congratulated the newly appointed School cabinet members for their preparedness to take responsibilities interested to them and motivated them to do as they say.
In the end the vote of thanks was proposed and the program concluded with the singing of the school anthem

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Christmas is a festival which inspires everyone to share and care, love and cheer, and make memories that lasts forever.
         On 23rd December 2022 the students and staff of Mount Carmel Primary School celebrated Christmas in all its joy and happiness. The entire school vibrated with the spirit of Christmas. The whole school wore a festive look and was beautifully decorated.
           The program commenced by invoking the blessings of almighty God through a prayer service and a prayer dance. The significance of the festival was told by Zoya Shaikh of STD 2. The little angels of Std 1 danced to the joyful tunes of ‘Rudolf the red nosed reindeer’. It was followed by a skit and an entertainment dance by the students of STD 3. Melodious carols were sung and live enactment of the birth of Jesus was presented by the students of STD 4.
         The arrival of Santa Claus filled the whole school with joy. The children shook their legs on the tune of ‘jingle bells’ with Santa. Sweets and gifts were distributed to the students.
          Sr. Shanti the principal of the school appreciated the efforts of the students and wished everyone a Happy Christmas. It was a joyous and delightful program for everyone.

Christmas Programme with the Evening school Children

“May the season of Christmas find you among those you love, sharing in the twin glories of generosity and gratitude.”
On the 23rd of December, A Christmas programme was organised for the students of the Evening school. Christmas is a time of joy, celebration and happiness and to show the same, the students of the Evening school were excited and overjoyed to perform a dance for the sisters of The Apostolic Carmel. They also wished one and all “Happy Christmas”. The sisters in return organised games and some snacks for the students. Before leaving, the students were given kits and they thanked everyone for the lovely and memorable time they spent in school. Through this programme the students did bring out the Christmas message of loving, caring and respect for one another.

Outreach Programme on 19th December 2022

"Only by giving you are able to receive more than what you have.”
Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad, every year has social awareness week. During this week students collect things like groceries, stationery, toiletries, etc. for the needy. As we enter the month of Christmas we instill in our students the joy of sharing and caring for others. After the students bring the necessary items, few students are taken to different places to distribute the same.
This year we visited two places Shanti Sadhan & Vatsalya Training and Development Centre For The Mentally Challenged. Two school vans to each place filled with food & other utilities along with students of Std 3 & 4 visited the places mentioned. We interacted with the people and also performed few programmes for them. Speeches on Christmas, Quiz & Carol singing to name a few were performed by the students. The students were overjoyed and so were the people who interacted with them. They were happy to see the faces of these little innocent and lively young girls. They praised them for their discipline and obedience.
The students were happy to share the things that they had brought for people. We took few photos and then it was time to say goodbye.
Hoping to come back soon in the near future and keeping all the happy moments in their hearts, the students returned back to school. Overall it was a memorable and happy experience for all the students. They thanked their headmistress Sr. Shanthi AC and teachers Ms. Leena & Ms. Oreen for giving them this opportunity.

School Picnic

Picnic is a short trip for pleasure. Picnics and tours a the part of learning only. It explores many other aspects of nature, community behaviour and group activities. To go to a picnic from school is really a great joy. The memories gathered at the school picnic will be cherished all through life.

Children’s Day

“Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow”
November 14th is celebrated as children’s day every year in India. This day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru. He was born on 14th November 1889. This day marks Nehru’s devotion to welfare, education and development of young children as he said, Children are the future of the nation.
On Monday 14th November 2022, We celebrated children’s day with great pomp, enthusiasm and joy in the school hall. As a carmel tradition the programme started with a prayer service done by the teachers followed by a speech on the occasion. Solo dance performance and gymnastics were performed by few talented students.
Further the teachers made the children’s day special by performing entertainment dance and sang a funny Qawwali for them. Finally all the teachers wished the students by singing Happy Children’s day song and the programme ended with a school song.
Chocolates were distributed among all the students as a token of love from the management.
All the students were overwhelmed and enjoyed the day to the fullest.

Diwali celebration program

“The Lord is my light and my salvation” – Psalm 27:1
As the psalm says that the Lord is our light, the festival of lights which is
Diwali, our Mount Carmel Primary school organized a Diwali celebration program on 19th October 2022, Wednesday. All the students and teachers were very excited, especially we- the teachers of 2nd standard, as we were in-charge of the program.
The stage was decorated with “Happy Diwali” wish, colourful designs and lights were put to make the theme of the program more meaningful.
The program started sharp at 8:30 a.m. with a prayer dance followed by prayer service by the students of class three.
After the prayer service a short introduction was given about the festival-“Diwali, the festival which signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, hope over despair and spread happiness.”
An action song was performed by the students of class one. They sang and performed actions very well.
The students of class two gave a beautiful message through an appropriate skit-“HAPPINESS” to mark the Diwali celebration in a true sense.
Without an entertainment dance a celebration never gets completed! So, the students of class four gave an energetic and vibrant performance through a garba dance.
Then we had a thought-provoking speech by our honourable headmistress Sister Shanthi.
We also had prize distribution for ‘Reading competition’ and ‘Diya and Card making competition’, the prizes were given away by the manager Sister Namika, Sister Shanthi, Ms. Hiral and Ms. Celeste.
Lastly, the program ended with the singing of the school song.
We pray that God may bless Mount Carmel School.

GK Quiz Competition 

An Inter house GK quiz competition was organised at Mount Carmel primary school for the students of class 3rd and 4th on 12th October. It comprised of five rounds for each house like current affairs, Common wealth games, Sports, Rapid round, advertisement and voice recognition. All the rounds were keenly contested. It was heart warming to see the children brimming with enthusiasm as they compete with each other to answer questions that required deep knowledge. The quiz ended with the declaration of the results. Yellow house was declared as the winner. All the students enjoyed the quiz and found it very informative and knowledge enriching experience. The vote of thanks was given by Ms Shweta who congratulated the winning team and encouraged the students to be updated by reading the newspapers and listening and watching news. The certificates were given to the winning team.

Recitation Competition Report 2022

Recitation Competition was held on 10 th October , 2022 in the School hall for grade 1 & 2.
24 Students participated in the Competition.
The Chief guest for the competition were Sr. Regina Rose and Ms. Lendrina.
The program commenced at 8:30 am and ended at 9:45 am.
The young poets enthralled the audience with their articulation and memory skills while reciting poems.
It was a splendid opportunity for them to gain confidence through stage exposure. Everyone was
delighted after seeing their pleasing performances.
The judges appreciated and applauded the performances of the participants
Three prizes were given to grade 1 . In grade 2 being a tie, 4 prizes were given.
Ms. Sonia and Ms. Vaseeta were in charge of the recitation program.

Teacher's Day

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated Teacher's Day on 5th September, 2022 at 8:30 A.M. in the school hall. The programme was attended by our Manager Sr. Namika, Headmistress Sr. Shanthi, other community sisters, teachers and all the students.
The programme commenced with an introduction and a parade by the teachers on the stage followed by a prayer service, skit, student's group dance and song. At the end of the programme Sr. Shanthi proposed a speech on Teacher's Day. After the ceremony a group photo of the teachers along with Sr. Shanthi was taken. There were games and lunch was organized for the teachers and a token of love was given to the teachers.

15th August – Independence Day programme

The programme was attended by our chief guest, the school manager Sr.Namika, principal Sr. Shanthi, other community sisters, teachers and the cabinet members of the school.
The programme commenced with little introduction followed by a prayer service. The school head girl, Ophelle Katara lead the chief guest of the programme Sr. Namika and the school headmistress Sr. Shanti to the flag post to hoist the national flag. Ms. Hiral gave the command to salute the flag followed by a national anthem. Ms.Hiral delivered a speech on Independence Day. Our chief guest, Sr. Namika shared her valuable thoughts on Independence Day. Lastly, the headmistress, Sr. Shanti proposed a vote of thanks. After the ceremony, a group photo along with sisters, teachers was taken.

13th August – Independence Day celebration

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated the 75th Independence Day programme on 13th August,2022 at 8:30 a.m. in the school hall. The programme was attended by the school manager, Sr.Namika, the headmistress, Sr. Shanthi, teachers and the students of Std. 1 to 4.
The programme commenced with the prayer dance of Class -2 followed by a prayer service. Secondly, Class -1 had performed a melodious action song on Independence Day. Thirdly, the selected children of Class-4 dressed up as a role model of India’s Freedom fighters like Gandhiji, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmibhai, and many more. They spoke something about their lives. Lastly, the Class-3 had performed an entertainment dance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and an encouraging speech delivered by the headmistress Sr. Shanthi. After the Independence Day programme, the winners for the Handwriting Competition, National Symbol Drawing/Craft Competition and Rakhi making Competition were announced. The school manager, Sr. Namika , the principal Sr. Shanti, Ms. Monica, Ms. Oreen, Ms. Sylvia, Ms. Sonia, Ms. Sonica were invited on the stage to give away the prize certificates to the first 3 winners of these competition. The programme ended with a national anthem. After congratulating the winners, a group photo of the all 3 competitions along with sisters, teachers was taken. Also the photos of participants of the Independence Day programme was taken.

Cabinet Installation Ceremony

Mount Carmel Primary School, Carmel Cote, Ahmedabad celebrated the cabinet installation ceremony for the academic year 2022-23 on 9th July, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. in the school hall. The ceremony was attended by the manager, Sr.Namika, principal Sr. Shanthi, parents, teachers and the students of Std. 1 to 4.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a prayer service. The cabinet marched towards the stage with Ms.Ophele Katara, the headgirl, in the lead followed by the Assistant headgirl, Ms.Brooklyn Rathod, followed by the Prema (red),Satya (yellow), Nirmala (blue) and Shanti (green) squad captains and their assistants. The sports and assistant sports minister, discipline and assistant discipline and the cleanliness and assistant cleanliness ministers were also included in the cabinet. The cabinet took their oath after receiving their badges from the teachers of Std. 1 and 3. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and an encouraging speech delivered by the principal Sr. Shanthi. After congratulating the cabinet, a group photo along with the cabinet, sisters, teachers and parents was taken.
