National Symbol Making Competition

Today, the 8th of August, we organized a National Symbol Making Competition in our school. The children were excited. They came to school in the morning with big smiles and the required materials. The competition was held during the 3rd and 4th periods. The children showed creative ideas and made beautiful wall hangings and charts. They prepared national symbols like the peacock, the lotus, and the banyan tree. Seeing them work took us by surprise. We saw each child’s creative side and potential. This competition brought out their love for our country. The enthusiasm of the children was remarkable. It was a pleasure to see little children from Balvatikato Standard IV enjoying themselves. The children also shared their materials with each other. This showed a beautiful gesture of sharing. We organized this competition to build a sense of patriotism and love for our country in our little ones. We also wanted them to understand the meaning of celebrating Independence Day. The children learned about our national symbols in a colorful and creative way. Let us pray for our country to always live in peace and unity. Let us teach our children to love and respect our nation.

Grandparents Day celebration

Grandparents are delighted blend of laughter ,caring deeds, wonderful stories and love.

 To cherish the bond between grandparents and grandchildren and to honour their unconditional love,Mount Carmel Primary school organised a special event to celebrate the invaluable role of grandparents in the lives of our students .

    The grandparents were warmly welcomed with flower petals as a gesture of love. The esteemed guest of honour , Mrs.Mitali Chakraborty and other guests were welcomed by the school manager , Sister Gunvanti ,the Headmistress Sr.Alka and a few teachers.

  The celebration commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony led by the school manager , Headmistress ,guests of honour and three grandparents. A prayer was then offered,thanking God for the gift of grandparents and seeking His blessings for their health, happiness and peace followed by a beautiful prayer dance by the students.

The resource person Mrs. Mitali Chakraborty addressed the gathering and shared valuable thoughts on the importance of grandparents in family life .The talk focused on family bonding ,respect for elders, sharing experience and preserving family values. The school Headmistress ,Sr.Alka too addressed the gathering and expressed her heartfelt joy at seeing so many grandparents for the celebration.She spoke about the invaluable role of grandparents in shaping children's lives through their love,wisdom, guidance and prayer

 An exciting activity , Retro Karaoke was planned for the grandparents which added to the thrill of the celebration in which the grandparents enthusiastically participated and sang classics from the 60's,70's and 80's on Karaoke and enjoyed guessing familiar songs. The winners were awarded with prizes adding sparkle in the eyes of the participants.Refreshments were provided to our dear grandparents.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks expressing sincere gratitude to the guests of honour, grandparents,teachers and students for making the occasion memorable. 
  The grandparents departed with joyful heart and received a small token of appreciation as a gesture of love.

Nature Conservation Day

Nature Conservation Day was celebrated in school with great enthusiasm and active participation by the students on 28th July. The celebration aimed to create awareness among children about the importance of protecting nature and adopting environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
The programme began with a special morning assembly. The assembly included a prayer, thought for the day, a speech on nature conservation, and an awareness message highlighting the importance of trees, water, animals and a clean environment. Students were encouraged to understand that even small actions, such as saving water, avoiding plastic, planting trees and keeping their surroundings clean, can make a difference.
To make the celebration creative and engaging, various art and awareness activities were organized for different classes. Students of Balvatika, Std. 1 and Std. 2 participated in a colouring activity. The children enthusiastically used colours to express their love and concern for nature.
Students of Std. 3 took part in a poster-making activity. They created colourful posters carrying meaningful messages about saving trees, protecting wildlife, reducing pollution and keeping the Earth clean. The activity helped them express their ideas creatively while developing environmental awareness.
Students of Std. 4 participated in a slogan and banner-making activity. They prepared attractive banners and wrote powerful slogans encouraging everyone to protect nature and use natural resources responsibly. Their creative messages reflected their understanding of the responsibility each individual has towards the environment.
The activities provided students with an opportunity to learn, create and spread awareness about nature conservation.
The day successfully conveyed the message that protecting nature is not only our duty but also our responsibility towards future generations.

English Handwriting Competition

To foster the art of beautiful writing and encourage young learners to refine their motor skills, Mount Carmel Primary school organised a handwriting competition for all the students of class 1 to 4 on 18th July 2026.

The primary objective of the event was to promote neatness, accuracy and legibility in written work and also motivating students to adopt uniform and beautiful handwriting style.

By this competition students are inspired to appreciate the value of neat handwriting in their daily academic lives and keep improving their writing skills.

Celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was joyfully organized by the students of Class IV A which was celebrated by all the students of Pre Primary, Balvatika and classes I to IV on 14th July 2026. The programme was conducted based on the themeof , "Mother of Mount Carmel Feast Day."
The celebration began with a warm welcome to all the sisters. This was followed by the ceremonial garlanding of the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel by all the sisters as a mark of love, respect, and devotion.
The programme continued with a warm introduction highlighting the significance of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and her special place in the life of the school. A graceful prayer service was presented by the students of Class IV A.
The students of Class IV A then staged an informative skit depicting the story of St. Simon Stock and explaining the importance of the Holy Scapular.
The children of the Pre-Primary section offered a beautiful dance as a tribute to Mother of Carmel.
A unique and meaningful poem recitation was presented by the students of Class IV A, with each girl holding an alphabet that together spelled "OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL." As they recited the poem, every alphabet represented one of the beautiful virtues and qualities of Mother Mary, making the presentation both creative and inspiring
The programme continued with an energetic and colourful dance performance in which the students displayed excellent coordination, expressive movements, and teamwork.
Every performance reflected the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of the students and received warm appreciation from the audience. Students from all the classes extended their heartfelt Feast Day wishes to the sisters by presenting them with saplings and handmade greeting cards as tokens of love and gratitude.
The programme concluded with an inspiring message by the Headmistress, Sr. Alka, who spoke to the children about the life and importance of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and encouraged them to follow her virtues.
She also spoke about the importance of the Holy Scapular and the Holy Rosary, encouraging everyone to seek the loving protection and guidance of Mother Mary through faith and prayer.
 The celebration came to a fitting end with the entire school singing the school song together with great pride and devotion.

   Parents’ Orientation Programme

Mount Carmel Primary School, Khanpur, Ahmedabad, organized a Parents' Orientation Programme on 11th July. The programme was conducted in two sessions with the objective of strengthening the partnership between parents and the school for the holistic development of every child.
        . The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a prayer service with readings from different sacred scriptures. The esteemed Guest and Resource Person, Mr. Caesar D'Silva, a renowned educationist with over three decades of experience in school leadership and teacher training, was warmly welcomed with a sapling and later felicitated with a shawl and a token of love by Rev. Sr. Gunvanti, Manager, and Rev. Sr. Alka, Headmistress.
         In his inspiring address, Mr. D'Silva encouraged parents to be present in their children's lives by giving them quality time and nurturing them with love, values and independence. He emphasized that true success lies not only in academic excellence but also in raising responsible and compassionate individuals through a strong partnership between home and school.
         Rev. Sr. Alka, Headmistress, also addressed the gathering and encouraged parents to work closely with the school in shaping confident, value-based and responsible children.
         The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem. The orientation was a meaningful and enriching experience that strengthened the bond between the school and parents, reaffirming their shared commitment to the all-round development of every child.

Driver's Meeting on Student Safety under POCSO in School

A Driver's Meeting was conducted at Mount Carmel Primary School, Khanpur on 08/07/2026 with a special focus on student's safety under POCSO guidelines.
The meeting began with a warm welcome. All van and auto-rickshaw drivers were greeted with roses. Ms. Manisha gave the introduction, followed by a welcome address by Sr. Alka, our Headmistress. Sister shared a heart-touching story and thanked all drivers for their dedication and responsibility.

The programme continued with a prayer song, lighting of the lamp by our Manager, Sr. Gunvanti, Sr. Alka, the Head Girl, and senior drivers. An opening prayer was said seeking God’s protection for all children.

Chief Guest Mr. Michael Paul addressed the gathering. He spoke about the importance of punctuality, discipline, and teamwork in school transport. He emphasized that drivers play a key role in child safety and must uphold the trust of parents. He also urged everyone to take care of their own health and follow all traffic rules strictly.

Ms. Monica conducted a session on Safety Rules and Guidelines as per POCSO. She explained:  
- Proper behavior with students  
- Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and records  
- Safe pick-up and drop procedures  
- Speed limits and traffic discipline  
- Emergency protocols and reporting system  

The session highlighted that "Child Safety is Our Top Priority" and every driver is a guardian on wheels.

The meeting concluded with refreshments arranged by the school. Mr. Niranjan Bhai, van driver, expressed gratitude to Sr. Alka and the school staff on behalf of all drivers.

The meeting ended on a positive and responsible note.

Mount Carmel Primary School Investiture Ceremony 2026-27

Mount Carmel Primary School celebrated its Investiture Ceremony 2026 with great pride and enthusiasm. The ceremony marked the official appointment of the newly elected student leaders, who pledged to serve the school with dedication, honesty, and responsibility.
The programme began with a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The Chief Guest, Ms. Natasha Dastur, a proud Ex-Carmelite and Junior Coordinator of Mount Carmel Convent High School, was warmly welcomed. Sr. Alka, the Headmistress, presented Ms. Natasha Dastur with a sapling and a token of appreciation as a symbol of gratitude and respect. Sr. Gunvanti then welcomed Ms. Binaifer Dastur by presenting her with a sapling and a token of love, expressing the school's heartfelt appreciation for her presence.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a meaningful prayer service. Keeping alive the Carmel tradition that "Carmel is Prayer," the gathering sought God's blessings for the newly elected leaders. Special prayers were offered for wisdom, honesty, kindness, courage, and responsible leadership. The badges were blessed, and prayers were also offered for the entire Carmel family to continue working together in unity, love, and respect.
The newly elected cabinet members then entered with a March Past, followed by the pinning of badges and presentation of sashes. The Head Girl, Assistant Head Girl, House Captains and Assistant Captains of the Red (Prema), Blue (Nirmala), Green (Shanti), and Yellow (Satya) Houses, along with the Discipline, Cleanliness, and Sports Ministers, proudly received their badges and sashes from the invited guests and teachers.
A solemn Oath-Taking Ceremony followed, during which all the cabinet members pledged to perform their duties faithfully, obey school rules, be punctual, honest, and set a good example for others. The newly elected Head Girl, Aadhya Kachoriya, delivered the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the student council.
The highlight of the event was the inspiring address by the Chief Guest, Ms. Natasha Dastur, who encouraged the young leaders to lead with confidence, humility, and commitment while serving others with sincerity and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with words of gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Sisters, teachers, non-teaching staff, support staff, parents, and students for making the occasion a memorable success. The programme ended with the School Song, leaving everyone inspired by the values of leadership, service, teamwork, and the true spirit of the Carmel family.

Spiritual Retreat for teachers(Journey to an Apostolic Carmel – Roots to Wings.)


Date:24th, 25th, and 27th June 2026.
A three-day educational and spiritual retreat was organized for the teachers on the theme, "Journey to an Apostolic Carmel – Roots to Wings." The retreat was held at Mount Carmel High School, Navrangpura, on 24th, 25th, and 27th June 2026. It was conducted by Sr. Dianne, Sr. Jeswina and Ms. Diya and proved to be a deeply meaningful and enriching experience that nurtured the participants spiritually, personally, and professionally.
The retreat sessions encouraged the teachers to deepen their relationship with God and reflect on their vocation as educators. One of the sessions focused on God's wonderful creation, reminding everyone to appreciate the beauty of nature and recognize their responsibility as faithful stewards of God's gifts by caring for the environment.
Another inspiring session highlighted the life and mission of Mother Veronica, whose unwavering faith, courage, perseverance, dedication, and spirit of selfless service continue to inspire generations. Her exemplary life motivated the participants to embrace their vocation with renewed commitment, compassion, and a spirit of joyful service.
The retreat also provided opportunities for prayer, reflection, sharing, and personal introspection, enabling the teachers to strengthen their faith and renew their sense of purpose. It encouraged everyone to grow in unity, gratitude, and trust in God's loving guidance.
The retreat concluded with a renewed sense of faith, gratitude, and commitment to serve God, the students, and the Apostolic Carmel mission with love, dedication, and enthusiasm. It left every participant spiritually refreshed and inspired to continue their educational ministry with greater zeal and compassion.

International Yoga Day Celebration in School

Place: Mount Carmel Primary School (Assembly Hall)
Our school celebrated International Yoga Day on 20th June, as 21st June fell on a Sunday. The day began with a short and meaningful assembly conducted over the intercom, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The students of Std. IV enthusiastically presented a series of yoga asanas. The session commenced with meditation, helping everyone experience calmness and concentration. This was followed by the Camel Pose (Ustrasana), Butterfly Pose (Baddha Konasana), Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana), Warrior Pose (Virabhadrasana), and the Surya Namaskar, demonstrating the importance of flexibility, strength, and balance.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note with a lively Happy Action Song taught by our Headmistress, Sr. Alka, which filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm and positive energy.
The celebration inspired students to understand the value of incorporating yoga into their daily lives and encouraged them to adopt healthy habits for a balanced and peaceful life.
